Breaks

A break is its own kind of entry. It sits on the timeline like work does, so you can see when your day actually paused, but it is never added into a work total - not on the home page, not in a report, not in an export.

1. While a timer is running, press the coffee button. The work entry stops and a break starts in the same motion.
2. Press Resume when you are back. The work entry restarts with its project, description and tags intact, so nothing has to be re-picked.
3. Or press Stop on the break to end the day there.

You can also record a break after the fact: the Add entry dialog has Work, Break and Absence as entry types, and an existing entry can be switched between them while you edit it. A running break updates live on screen and cannot be edited until it is stopped.

Because breaks are excluded everywhere, a day that reads 6:00 of work with a 45 minute break covered 6 hours 45 minutes of wall-clock time. Reports and exports both say so where it matters.
