Projects and clients

Four separate dimensions, all on one page, each in a section you can collapse. Which sections you leave open is remembered on this device.

  • My Companies - the legal entities you invoice AS. Most people have one. Every client belongs to one of them, and one is the default for new clients.
  • Clients - the businesses you bill. Each carries a color, an organization number, an address and optionally a contact person, and each belongs to one of your companies.
  • Projects - what the work actually is. A project has a color, can belong to a client, and can carry a weekly or monthly hour budget.
  • Tags - colored labels you can attach to any entry, several at a time, cutting across projects and clients.

A budget is a cap in hours per week or per month. Nothing is blocked when you pass it - the elapsed figure in the timer bar and the project summary simply recolor, so you find out while there is still time to do something about it. The Reports page shows live budget consumption against each budgeted project's own current window.

Archiving and deleting are different on purpose. Archiving a project or a client hides it from the pickers and keeps every entry that ever used it. Deleting a project keeps its entries too - they simply lose the project label. Deleting a tag only takes the label off your entries. When something genuinely cannot be deleted, because a client still has projects or entries behind it, wallticker says so before you try and offers the way through.

On the free plan your three oldest active projects take new time. Anything beyond the cap stays entirely yours - rename it, export it, delete it - it just cannot receive new entries. Archive one and the next in line takes its place.
