Tracking time
The home page shows one period at a time in one of three views. The view switcher and the period control sit together in the toolbar, and both remember your choice on this device - so if you always work in Week view over a month, that is what you get back tomorrow.
- Timesheet - an editable grid with one row per project, or per client and project on Pro. Type a duration into a cell and the entry is created for you.
- List - your entries as rows grouped by day, each with a running day total, and the fastest view for editing individual entries.
- Week - seven columns showing each day's entries as blocks, with planned-versus-actual bars along the top.
The Timesheet grid deserves one paragraph of explanation, because it does something clever that is easy to misread. Typing into a cell does not create a fresh entry every time: it grows or shrinks that row's LAST entry on that day, and a brand new entry starts where the day's latest entry ended, or at 09:00 if the day is empty. Clearing a cell removes the time again. If a value would shrink an entry below zero, wallticker refuses and tells you to edit the entry in List view instead.
A running timer shows in the grid and ticks live, but its cell cannot be edited until you stop it. The period control offers Day, Week, two weeks, Month, a custom range, and a rolling window that always follows the current week.
An entry that crosses midnight appears under both days so you can see it from either side, but it is counted once, on the day it started. That is why a day total can differ from the sum of the blocks you can see.
